Ice Cream Dream

“It’s time to Sweeten Up Your Makeup”

πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›(Only a few shades)

😊

Glamlite…….yup, another brand I only recently heard of. This indie brand caters mostly to eyeshadow palettes, although they do sell other makeup. Their margarita glosses look really tempting for obvious reasons🍹.

Most of the palettes by this brand are based on food. Pizza, donuts, tacos, burgers, cake and of course ice cream. For some reason, I have no desire to try any of the food palettes, just the desserts. Similar to real lifeπŸ˜‹.

Ice cream seems to be a popular theme in palettes. BH Cosmetics did their Sweetshops Collection, while Colourpop had their ice cream bites. And why not? Most people love ice cream. It comes in all colors…it really is a pretty food.

The Basics

This palette has 30 shades, a stunning mixture of shimmers and mattes. You get 16 mattes and 14 shimmers. A nice mix. This palette is more than aesthetically pleasing. It is visually stunning.

At first glance it seems like a pastel palette. These colors just jump out. But it’s more than that. There are some rich tones in here too. You could also do some neutral looks with this, not a lot, but some. Honestly, this palette is a little all over the place. I’ll explain what I mean in the wearability section.

As far as I know you can only get this palette off Glamlite’s website. It cost $45.00. https://glamlite.com/collections/eyeshadow-palettes/products/ice-cream-dream-palette.

Packaging

Omg…where do I begin? At first I thought that they had my order wrong. The palette arrived in something that looked like a shirt box. When I opened the package, I realized why it was so big. The box the palette comes in is shaped like an ice cream truck. A huge ice cream truck. And unless you are 5, I just think it’s a little over the top and unnecessary. I love packaging. But this is just a little too much packaging. I know some collectors keep packaging, but are you really going to keep something this big? Too me it’s a little much.

The packaging of the actual palette however…11 out of 10. Absolutely beautiful. From the tie dye pastel, to the ice cream cone. If you say that you have not shaken it just to see the sprinkles move, you are probably lying. The inside has a huge mirror. And yes, good old sturdy cardboard.

Wearability

This palette is either incredibly user friendly or a challenge, depending on how you look at it. If you are someone that uses a matte, and puts a shimmer over it, you will have no problem. You can easily find a shimmer for each matte.

If you are someone that wants a complete look, it gets a little harder. Let’s say that you want a purple look. There are three purple shimmers and one matte. Let’s say you want a teal look. There are really no teal shimmers, even though there are two teal mattes. I could pretty much make this argument for every single color. Even making a neutral look is not that easy because there are really no light neutral matte shades. Also, the neutral shimmers are very close.

You could get very creative and blend different color stories, but honestly I didn’t feel that these shadows blended that well together. The pinks blend well with the pinks, but I had a hard time blending the pinks and the purples.

As far as reactions, this is one of those palettes that is split. Most of the shades I was fine with. However, Black Cherry, Red Velvet and Raspberry all gave me issues. What was kind of funny is that they are all next to each other in the palette. These were not bad reactions, but they were reactions none the less. I will not be able to use these shades again. However, three shades in a palette this big is not a deal breaker for me.

Conclusion

Do you want this palette in your collection? I think that it is a nice palette to have around if you want a rainbow palette. It is by no means a staple palette, even though it does have more neutral shades than most rainbow palettes. What’s really good about it is the variety of colors. You are not going to wear this palette everyday ( I don’t think) but if you do feel like a yellow or a purple or a green, it’s all here. It can also work as a nice pastel palette. Basically the entire bottom half. So, yes, I do think that it is a palette worth having.

If you have a nickel allergy, well for me, the good outweighs the bad. I can use most of the shades. The formula in the deeper pinks probably just has more iron oxides. It might be worth picking up if you just want the pastels and are not interested in those tones. Or if you just want to see the sprinkles move. It is pretty cool. Have you tried this palette?
