New Makeup June 2021

Every month, or at least every season, I will post a blog on new makeup, and more specifically new eyeshadow palettes. I never realized how much new stuff there was until I actually started looking. To post it all would be a full time job, and I already have one of those. So I am going to pick what I think is interesting. Please let me know what you think is interesting. If you have a nickel allergy and would like me to try something please don’t hesitate to ask. And if you don’t have a nickel allergy and just want my opinion….omg…I am honored 🥰.

So with that, let’s get to it. I have to say, there are some brands here I have never tried. Looking around this attic, I find that hard to believe. Just goes to show you how big the beauty community really is.

Colourpop – Pop of Neon

The pop of neon collection features 3 five pan palettes

Colourpop launched it’s Pop of Neon collection, which includes three palettes that are just that. Neutrals with a pop of neon. There’s Neon Gaze (yellow), Moon Haze (coral) and Colour Vision (pink), which cost $10 each. I do not plan on picking any of these up, but if I were going to, it would be Colour Vision. I like the cool neutrals, and there is a slightly better chance of me wearing neon pink than there is of me wearing neon yellow. Also, Neon Glaze has a matte glitter. Do we really need a matte glitter in a palette with only 5 shades? As far as Moon Haze, this one doesn’t really look neon. Unless it just looks different in the picture. Isn’t that just coral?

I don’t know what to think of this collection. Chances are you already have these neutrals. And if you want all three colors, you have to buy all three palettes. I think they should have released three 5 pan palettes with all neon color stories and a pop of neutral. Just my opinion.

Patrick Ta – Major Dimension

I honestly do not know much about this brand except I have seen it at Sephora and was tempted by the Major Glow Oil. Now I am tempted again. From what I understand, this is the brand’s first palette. The Major Dimensions eyeshadow palette is 12 shades and will set you back $68.00. Is $68.00 a little pricey for this warm neutral palette? I don’t think so. The pricing seems to be in line with the brand, and this would definitely work as an everyday palette. I am so curios about those two cream shades on the left with their own door (I’m assuming to keep the powder out).

Is that a reason to pick this one up? Possibly. I am really on the fence with this one. The reviews I saw were pretty good, except some people were disappointed that it is neutral. I disagree. I think a neutral palette is so classic and timeless, it makes sense that a brand will release a neutral palette first. I’m sure we will see lots of other color stories later on. On the other hand, I probably have these shades a hundred times over. Do I really need shadows with their own doors?

Artist CoutureSupreme Bronze

I’m going to be honest again. I cannot remember this brand. I know that I have heard of it on YouTube. Anyway, they released a bronze palette. $42.00….you get 6 mattes, 4 metallics, and 2 pearl finishes (a pearl is a multichrome shadow.. usually its a little more than a shimmer, a little less than a metallic. In this palette the pearl finishes seem to be HBIC and Glisten, and they really look stunning. Word to the wise, pearl finishes are not great for textured skin.) I really don’t know enough about this brand to say to much, however I will say that this palette looks beautiful. I did check out the website. Seems like they have nice things. Also, they are a community of “Glowgetters.” Love it. I’m in. I will be trying some stuff, but probably not this palette.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Volume 5

Let’s take a break from the neutral palettes for a second to appreciate this gorgeous cool toned lilac creation. ABH has released volume 5 of the Norvina palettes. I missed the first 4.

This is the one I was waiting for. A “Pro artistry palette with a summer lilac color story.” All I know is this thing is gorgeous. The packaging is beautiful and look at those shades!!!

The one complaint I have heard about these palettes is the shade names. They are named after their spot. Like B1, C2…it’s like playing battleship. It’s still not as bad as the shade names in Natasha Denona’s Glam palette ( there are 4 shades called center eye lid.) Honestly, I do not care if they have shade names at all. Because I am in love. Only thing is, can I justify $60.00 when I already own the original Norvina which has a similar color story? Yes. Because love makes you do crazy things. And these feelings are real. Please don’t let me be allergic to it.

Makeup Revolution – Revolution X Soph Super Spice Shadow Palette and Mini Palette

A rainbow palette with some neutrals…you could create tons of looks

Soph is a UK youtuber. I really like her channel. She has the most gorgeous nails I have ever seen. I have the highlighter palette from her first collaboration with Makeup Revolution, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I think I paid $8.00 for it during a sale at Ulta. It really works nice with my dry, textured skin. I missed her original eyeshadow palettes.

This time she released more highlighters, some lip products and two palettes….The Super Spice and the mini ($18.00 and $10.00 respectively.) I beleive the mini palette is her favorite shades from the larger palette.

I cannot see myself picking these up. I already own way more rainbow palettes than I should, and don’t even wear these colors. This palette does give you options…there are enough neutrals to use it as your everyday palette, but unless you are also going to wear the colors it’s probably not worth it. If you wear both…I think this is perfect. It really is a beautiful collection. Congratulations Soph!

Tarte – Maneater Temptation Eyeshadow Wardrobe and Sugar Rush Dream on Eye and Cheek Palette

Lets talk Tarte for a minute. Usually I think Tarte is a an underated brand. But their last few launches….The Juicy Palette…That Star Chasers thing…and The Pretty Basics, which was even too basic for me, have been, well questionable. Don’t get me wrong…I thought the Juicy palette was nice…it was the launch. When they released those minis around the holidays they kind of made a big deal that the Juicy was a new palette, and had no counterpart. Then, they released the counterpart…and I just do not think people were that interested.

Now welcome the Maneater Temptation Eyeshadow Wardrobe. Yes, that is the actual name of it. First of all, I am not a fan of these stack things, so maybe I am biased. But for someone who loves neutral palettes, there is no temptation at all. I mean is it me? Or do they all kind of look the same? Even the swatches look similar. To me this is not worth $39.00. I don’t like the maneater mascara either. The Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara is much better in my opinion. Just putting it out there.

Now the Dream on Eye Palette is a whole different story. I was not into makeup back when Tarte was releasing these round palettes. I know Rainforest of the Sea is still around, but didn’t they just discontinue one like this?

Anyway, for $32.00, you get 10 shades and one blush in their famous Amazonian clay formula. I think that is a fair price. Let’s face it, I am a sucker for everything about this palette. The packaging, the color story, even the shade names…magic, wings, fairy, mystic, dream…c’mon. We all know I will be picking this one up, but I will probably wait for it to come to Ulta.

Miscellaneous Makeup

These are not palettes, but I wanted to mention them. Lime Crime has released these Sun Kissed Glimmering Skin Sticks. I love this kind of makeup in the summer. Anything that is dewy and hydrating is for me. They do contain iron oxides, however there is very little pigmentation, so I wonder how much. There are 9 shades, $25.00 each. I will be trying one, probably The Tidal.

Saie has released (or will release tomorrow) Sun Melt Natural Cream Bronzer. This is a brand that I just discovered. They are a clean beauty brand focusing on more natural ingredients, similiar to 100% Pure. I looked at a few of their products and they do contain iron oxides. This is not surprising. However, I might give them a try

And so summer is officially here. Actually, I think we have another week, but for the sake of this blog summer is officially here. And with it more gold toned eyeshadow palettes. Sun kissed is the theme. I already picked up Colourpop’s You’re Golden and Sigma’s Ambiance. So, I probably will skip the Patrick Ta palette. I would like to get the Tarte one eventually. As far as the Norvina, it’s already on its way.

What makeup do you want to try this summer?

    1. I just got it in the mail, and it is just as gorgeous in person. I will be testing it soon. If you have had luck with other ABH palettes, and you are into purple tones, I think I would go for it. I know it is pricey, but you can also get neutral looks out of it. Of course it is predominately lilac, but there are nudes, golds, corals…B2 is this beautiful taupe color. You are getting 25 shadows, beautiful packaging, nice mirror. I cannot even tell you how lovely the swatches are, of course like I said I have not tested it yet. I will do a full post when I do. Let me know if you pick it up…thanks so much for stopping by.
